Casteglione to Hire Night Security Guards to Combat Local Theft

The municipality will be patrolled at night by security guards to prevent thefts and robberies. This was the decision made during Monday’s safety commission meeting. The session was attended by the president, Guido Zaglio, his vice Gianfranco Preti, and members Mario Tonello and Maria Grazia Margonari, in the presence of Mayor Arturo Sigurtà and police commander Aldo Aresti.

Representatives of Rifondazione, Ds, and Socialists were absent. The meeting opened with testimonies from a group of residents living in the Palazzina and Campasso neighborhoods, who have recently complained about ongoing thefts. For this reason, the commission wanted to hear their accounts, especially after a letter supported by around 200 signatures was delivered directly to Zaglio and the municipal administration.

After concluding the first part of the session, the members of the working group discussed at length the possible solutions to address the concerns of the population. Several quotes from private security companies specializing in nighttime surveillance were reviewed, with a decision to experiment with hiring dedicated guards.

The exact procedures under which these personnel will operate will be coordinated with the Municipal Police, but the commission has already allocated a fund of about 40 million lire for the project. Once technical details are clarified and the company to be entrusted with the service is selected, implementation will begin.

The president of the Safety Commission, Guido Zaglio, expressed satisfaction with the initiative. “We want to give our fellow citizens greater peace of mind,” he explained. “It is right to explore all practical options to reassure the population, who are often afraid and at risk of having a burglar in their home during the night.”

The decision to hire nighttime security guards serves this purpose,” concluded the president. “This is a clear demonstration that the Safety Commission is taking concrete actions to protect those who live and work in Casteglione.”
