Castiglione Council Approves Control Commission for Five Continents Neighborhoods
The control commission for the Five Continents and at-risk neighborhoods of Castiglione will be established. The city council meeting last night, held in the hall of Palazzo Gonzaga, decided to accept the request submitted by the Lega Nord, through its councilors Zaglio and Mutti, as well as the other three councilors Paganella, Confalonieri, and Preti, the latter being part of the majority list of Castiglione al Centro. Recall that the commission was previously considered unnecessary by Mayor Sigurtà.
Proposal of the public manifesto and approval
Before addressing the issue of the control commission, the council approved the draft for the public manifesto that was meant to proclaim the victory of the municipality of Castiglione at the Tar (Administrative Regional Court) against the Pirossina landfill. The document was drafted by councilor Paganella, along with all group leaders. It was approved unanimously and will be transformed into a manifesto to be posted throughout the town.
Interventions on the motion and the commission
The discussion on the anticipated topic of the control commission for the Five Continents was opened directly by the proposer of the motion, Lega Nord councilor Guido Zaglio. After him, the other signatory of the motion, Preti, addressed the mayor Sigurtà directly.
Preti sought to convince the mayor, who had expressed opposition to the initiative, of its merits: “We must not rely solely on statistics, but verify that criminal acts continue to exist and that we cannot pretend to ignore this.” Following Preti’s intervention, statements came from representatives of all council groups.
Mattioli, from Castiglione Domani, expressed support for this initiative, suggesting that other measures should also be studied to further reduce crime. After him, Paganella, Migliorelli, Beschi, and Saviola emphasized various aspects.
The debate continued late into the evening, and Mayor Sigurtà finally took the floor after all the interventions.
