Castiglione Neighbors at Risk: Debate and Motion for Public Safety Control
Moving towards an agreement, which is expected to lead to the formation of a commission, the political debate on at-risk neighborhoods in Castiglione delle Stiviere continues. The motion presented in recent days by the Lega Nord, along with its fellow minority members and a majority councilor, has sparked discussions even within the majority groups, which have met in recent days.
News Events and Activities of the Lega
As is remembered, recent news events occurring within the Cinque Continenti district had prompted the Lega to capitalize on the protests and to criticize the mayor specifically on public order and the risks present within Castiglione’s most populated neighborhoods.
The Lega then proposed the formation of a control commission that would include representatives from all entities responsible for monitoring and safeguarding public health.
Signing of the Motion and Consequences
Surprisingly, but not too much in view of what emerged from recent majority meetings, Gianfranco Preti, a majority councilor, also signed the Lega’s motion. Following the recent majority summit, it was revealed that Preti signed the motion mainly in his role as the councilor appointed by the administration for territory safety.
The various majority members who met, while not taking official positions on the Lega’s motion, seem to be inclined to share the need for a control body. The final decision will nevertheless be made during the upcoming City Council meeting, which is scheduled for September.
