Castiglione Preschool Nears Completion for Upcoming Academic Year
The construction works for the new preschool in Castiglione delle Stiviere are nearing completion. Last week, the municipal technical office delivered the external finishing works to the contractor, the final phase in a series that should lead to the full realization of the new educational center.
Public works councilor Innocente Sereni provided an update with a certain sense of satisfaction, as the deadline for opening the school before the upcoming academic year now appears achievable for the Castiglione administration.
Progress of the works
“The works,” said Sereni, “are progressing very well, and the interior parts are in a very advanced state. The structural and dividing internal elements are completed, as are all the systems embedded in the walls. These days, paving and installation of the heating and electrical systems are underway.”
Regarding the completion of the structure, I believe there will be no problems. As for the external arrangements, some work might be carried out once the school is operational.”
Delivery and timelines
“We have already handed over the external finishing works to the contractor,” said Sereni, “and these have already begun, starting with the pavements. If the weather continues to cooperate, I believe we will manage to inaugurate the school at the start of the academic year.”
The new school will cost the Municipality of Castiglione delle Stiviere a total of two billion seven hundred million lire. This amount covers, in part, the land acquisition, with the remaining funds used for construction.
Needs and unforeseen issues
The project became necessary to equip the San Pietro school complex with a sufficient number of classrooms, which are currently lacking: the spaces used by the elementary and preschool sections are too small. The construction of the new preschool faced a small setback when a beam experienced a minor failure.
