Castiglione Residents Petition for Road Widening and Repairs

There is currently a petition being circulated among the residents of the Astore and Santa Maria hamlets regarding local road infrastructure. The petition, which will be sent to the mayor and relevant councilors, was created to address urgent requests to the municipal administration, particularly for the widening of the intersection that from Santa Maria leads onto via Astore, the expansion of this road, and the repair of the asphalt surfaces in the areas of Santa Maria, Astore, Barche, Bertasetti, Fichetto, and Pedercini.

The residents consider the street network in the northern part of Castiglione to be dangerous. They highlight that it lacks adequate horizontal signage, is full of potholes, and is too narrow to ensure proper vehicle circulation.

Specific Requests of the Initiative

“We ask for an expansion near the intersection that from Santa Maria leads onto via Astore,” the text begins. “This is to improve the entry of vehicles onto this road. There is an obvious danger due to the narrowness of the street near the aforementioned intersection, which is located close to a semi-curve.”

Moreover, the petition specifies that the owner of the land involved in the potential intervention is available to transfer the area and consents to the installation of drainage systems.

“We also request that the ditch adjacent to via Astore, in the section bordering the Santa Maria convent, be filled in so that the road can be widened by two meters,” the petitioners continue.

According to the local residents, it is also urgent to repair the carriageway and the road surface of the streets passing through the areas of Barche, Pedercini, Bertasetti, and Fichetto.

“Furthermore, we wish to report that the horizontal signage is almost nonexistent,” they conclude. “The center lines are worn out, covered by leaves and soil, or have disappeared due to side potholes. We would therefore like these roads to be maintained.”
