Castiglione Safety Commission Proposes Police Force Reinforcement

The safety commission of the municipality of Castiglione convened on Tuesday evening with the agenda focused on surveillance of road traffic and high-risk neighborhoods.

The commission, which held its session jointly with the presence of Castiglione’s law enforcement commanders, discussed increasing patrols in the areas most frequented by offenders.

Representatives of the municipal assembly included President Guido Zaglio, Vice President Gianfranco Preti, the representative of the Castiglione Environmentalist Socialists Angelo Fabio Mutti, and Mayor Arturo Sigurtà.

Proposal to strengthen security

After consulting with law enforcement representatives, the commission formalized a proposal to the mayor.

Vice President Gianfranco Preti explains: «We asked to reinforce the Municipal Police force by hiring a couple of traffic wardens, tasked with patrolling high-risk areas and monitoring traffic.

Regarding safety, these rules are often forgotten, but they create serious danger situations. An increase in police presence could also free up the Carabinieri, allowing them to focus on more delicate situations.

The mayor explained the budget constraints, which would prevent such an increase in forces.

President Zaglio of the commission assured that the proposal will also be submitted for a vote in the council: «We will bring this proposal to the council — Zaglio said, echoing Preti — so we can seek a firm commitment from all political representatives.

If there is the will, we believe that we can find the right ways to recover the necessary funds».
