Castiglione School Upgrades and New Facilities on the Horizon

Novelties are on the horizon for the school buildings in Castiglione, particularly for the Gozzolina district. It is Giuseppe Bertoli, the Education Councilor, who provides an update, reaffirming the administration’s activity regarding school facilities, from preschools to high schools.

“In Gozzolina,” explains Bertoli, “there is also an increasing number of enrollments for the upcoming year. This is due to the after-school availability and initiatives by the local government, such as the free bus service for anyone from any part of Castiglione who wishes to attend the elementary school in the district.”

The innovation, therefore, in addition to strengthening the Gozzolina school, is the decision to develop cafeteria spaces within elementary schools during the year, avoiding the need to transfer students to kindergartens for meal consumption. But the list of interventions continues:

“Starting in September, construction will begin on the new gymnasium,” adds the councilor, “which will serve not only the schools but later also all sports enthusiasts of the district. For 2002, we instead anticipate a complete renovation of the school complex, including expansions.”

At that time, in fact, the post offices will move to a building in the Peep zone, leaving some municipal rooms available for classrooms. Soon, new furnishings will also arrive, for which a tender is expected. Desks, chairs, and cabinets will be radically renewed across all compulsory schools in Castiglione, with a high percentage of replacement.

The construction of the San Pietro preschool is also nearing completion, and the kitchen where daily meals are prepared for hundreds of students is almost ready as well. This work will definitively resolve the issue of providing hot meals at the school.

Future projects in high schools and support tools

“As for the High Schools,” concludes Bertoli, “the Province will approve the executive project on April 5th to be sent to the Region for funding. Then, we will have to wait for the tender process, and finally the construction of the 700-seat auditorium can begin.”
