Castiglione Urban Plan Review Faces Key Council Vote

Terminated, or nearly so, the skirmishes regarding the city council commission for high-risk neighborhoods, the majority in Castiglione delle Stiviere is expected to face another challenging and important review: that of the urban plan.

In the last meeting of the Castiglione city council, in fact, the notable absences from the agenda were precisely the amendments to the Generale Piano Regolatore (General Urban Plan), which many citizens have been waiting for some time and that have already sparked debate.

Along with these, the amendment to the ex Pastificio Cavalieri sector, announced already in May and not yet discussed, might finally see the light of day.

Agreements and amendments under discussion

Regarding this last one, it appears that the agreement has already been reached by the administration, including a significant reduction in the buildable volume in the sector.

It should be remembered that, precisely for this strategic area of the historic center, an amendment from the De Padova administration had already been approved, but not enacted.

However, while the majority seems to be aligned regarding the ex Pastificio Cavalieri, there appears to be disagreement about the amendments (to be adopted according to the procedure of regional law 23), totaling just under twenty.

These amendments were initially supposed to be brought to the attention of the city council in September, but have not yet been seen.

Expectations and future developments

Urban planning counselor, Piermario Azzoni, aims to gain favorable votes in the upcoming council, scheduled to take place by the end of October.

Castiglione Domani, Castiglione al Centro, and Socialisti Ambientalisti are called for a new review.

Theme of constructions and the environment

The theme of construction and the environment has been frequently discussed in Castiglione newspapers in recent weeks: in particular, some constructions in the Monterosso area are sparking debates.

The current majority lists are considering distributing an informational flyer, in which they intend to inform the public that the building permits for these interventions were granted by the previous administration.
