Castiglione’s 2001 Oktoberfest Celebrates German Friendship and Cultural Exchange
The Oktoberfest 2001 kicks off tonight, a major event featuring beer and German music. The friendship celebration, marked by the presence of friends from Leutkirch, a town in Germany that has established a sister city relationship with Castiglione.
The event takes place in a traditional Bavarian tent, which has been set up in the courtyard of the municipal swimming pools in the San Pietro area for several days. The festivities begin at 7:30 PM with the official opening attended by local authorities from both towns, accompanied by gastronomic stands that, until Sunday, will serve Harle beer and Italian and German foods, managed by the Balordi group.
Program and Participation
Every evening, musical entertainment will be provided by various folk groups from Germany, performing a variety of shows in traditional costumes. The official conclusion of Oktoberfest 2001 is scheduled for Sunday at midnight.
This year, the celebration also involved numerous volunteers: in addition to the Balordi, there are the Fiordaliso-Anffas cooperative, a delegation from the Sant’Angela Merici nursery school, the youth from Castello, retired carabinieri, alpini (Italian mountain troops), and a sports group comprising members of Fc Castiglione and amateur football players.

The event is supported by the Amici di Leutkirch, the Gemellaggi Group of Rossano Zilia, the Pro Loco community association, and the local department for events.
