A change in leadership of the Coast Guard of Lake Garda recently took place in Salò, where Commander Frigate Captain (CP) Antonello Ragadale handed over command to Commander Corvette Captain (CP) Massimiliano Quinto after five years of service. The ceremony was held in the presence of active military personnel and included visits by the two officers to the Prefects of the provinces of Brescia and Verona, as well as the Mayor of Salò and the Garda Community. During his tenure, Ragadale coordinated numerous interventions to ensure navigation safety, assisting hundreds of swimmers and sports enthusiasts.
Ragadale will now take command of the new Operational Lakes Department of the Coast Guard in Milan, which will also oversee the units in Garda, Como, and Maggiore. Secretary General Dr. Pierlucio Ceresa and the President of the Garda Community Senator Mariastella Gelmini expressed gratitude for the commitment demonstrated in the Garda area. With 45 military personnel and 10 vessels active 24 hours a day, the Coast Guard continues to be a fundamental pillar for the safety of users of Italy’s largest lake.
