After a series of meetings and inspections, the Municipality of Bardolino has reached an agreement with Veneto Strade to revise the project for the “Garda Cycle Path” in the northern section. The initiative aims to shift the route from the busy Gardesana road to the current cycle path along the lakeshore, ensuring greater safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Mayor Daniele Bertasi stated, “It will be the safest route, and at the same time, we have requested to carry out the works for the Garda collector in that section.” This new approach aims to avoid crowded and potentially dangerous roads.

A Shared Project

The agreement was formalized through a letter sent by Bertasi to Veneto Strade, emphasizing the desire to collaborate on an alternative route. Instead of the original passage next to the SR 249 Gardesana Orientale, the new design involves utilizing the roadway of the current pedestrian and cycling path that connects Bardolino to Garda. This intervention also includes the redevelopment of the Rivalunga promenade, which will be protected from vehicular traffic.

Environmental and Operational Benefits

Another positive aspect concerns the environmental impact. The construction of the metal platform initially planned in the original project will no longer be necessary. Bertasi expressed satisfaction with the changes made, highlighting that they have been well received by local residents.

In addition to the aforementioned modifications, the Municipality has also requested a partial revision of the route before the entrance to the Ca’ Nove parking lot. The future Cycle Path will now pass through Via Europa Unita, Via dello Sport, and Via San Colombano, the latter of which will become one-way.

Work Continues in Calmasino

Meanwhile, work related to the second phase of the project in Calmasino, which will connect to Lazise, continues. No major design changes are expected here; however, some observations presented by the Municipality of Bardolino have been taken into account. In particular, the request to avoid having the Cycle Path surround the sports facilities in Calmasino has been accepted.
