The Cheese Road of the Alto Garda Park has been officially launched, an initiative aimed at enhancing the dairy excellence of Valvestino and its neighboring municipalities. This project, inspired by similar models already active in other European regions, features a thematic route that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the local cheese-making tradition, interacting directly with producers and artisans in the field. The formalization of this initiative was made possible by the approval of a memorandum of understanding among various entities, including the Mountain Community and several municipalities such as Salò, Gardone Riviera, and, of course, Valvestino.
The heart of the project focuses on the production of Tombea cheese, a symbol of the traditional alpine farming activities in the area. The primary goal is to create a network connecting producers, restaurants, and accommodation facilities to promote the quality of local dairy products and raise public awareness of the region’s gastronomic culture. Planned actions include informational campaigns, tasting events, and collaborations with schools to spread knowledge of local culinary traditions. The Cheese Road offers not just a gastronomic experience but also a journey through the historic sites of cheese production.
