Ciapa Malga Opens Its Doors to Women

Four young women will manage Malga Ciapa, a historic cooperative Alpe del Garda facility at Passo Tremalzo in Tremosine, starting in the 2026 season at an altitude of 1,615 meters. Caterina will oversee a herd of 60 heifers and a bull, while Sara, Verena, and Maria will handle guest reception, rooms, kitchen and restaurant operations, as well as the stable.

The malga will offer a different daily menu, mainly using products from the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano and the cooperative, with a focus on reducing food waste. Operations are scheduled to run until mid-September for Caterina, when the herd returns to the valley, and until October for the other three team members.
