Ciferri Clinches D-One Italian Cup in Salò, Finishes Ahead of Scalmana and Gasperini
The Coppa Italia D-One concluded today in Salò with Enrico Ciferri of Circolo Vele Vernazzolesi winning the event, solidifying the lead built across four Saturday races and confirming the victory after the first leg in Santa Margherita Ligure in April. Giovanni Scalmana (Circolo Vela Gargnano) finished second with 15 points, two behind the winner, while Alessandro Gasperini (Lega Navale Italiana Belluno) ended third on the same points as Scalmana.
The final regatta, organized by Società Canottieri Garda for the Federazione Italiana Vela, featured nine competitors from Northern Italy in wind around six knots. The race committee was chaired by Mino Miniati, with Mauro Marzollo and Paolo Zanellato assisting. The D-One class, designed by Phil Morrison with Luca Devoti, drew attention for its technical features: a high-performance daggerboard, mainsail, jib, an asymmetrical gennaker, and side wings for enhanced control and stability.
