City Budget Surplus of €1.257B Planned for Future Use

Budget Situation and Its Utilization

The budget surplus amounts to 1.257 billion euros. This figure, not insignificant, emerged from the final account of the last fiscal year’s financial statement, approved with the vote of the majority, opposed by the Ulivo group and with abstentions from the two representatives of the Lega Nord-Liga Veneta.

“Negative and positive factors contributed,” immediately clarifies Renzo Franceschini, the assessor for Taxes. “In particular,, aside from the new assessments of active reserves, increased revenue across various chapters, we must also consider the accrued commitments of 780 million euros, including lower personnel costs, expenses for legal disputes, and reduced costs for the municipal campsite, as well as smaller shares for interest on loans and the sanitation fee with the Azienda Gardesana Servizi.”

The surplus that the Administration has not yet decided how to use but plans to propose to the City Council in an upcoming meeting. “It should also be noted,” clarifies Franceschini, “that only 800 million euros will be available, given that 236 million of the total budget surplus concern active reserves carried over for years and difficult to collect, and 220 million are earmarked for foreseeable liabilities.”

Resolutions and Clarifications on the Urban Plan

The City Council, subsequently, in acknowledging and adopting the content of the resolution by the Regional Council that approved, with official modifications, the general variant of the master plan, also focused on some clarifications.

Firstly, the area of the Campagnola hotel affected by two variants, following a accepted observation, has been excluded from the variation to the Urban Master Plan (Prg), and therefore remains subject to the previous urban regulations.

Furthermore, the area within the limits of the Ideal campsite, known as the Vanon, retains its original urban classification and is not included in the interventions of the general variation, where it was mistakenly classified as a campsite.
