City Council Clash Over Municipal Company Documents and Future Plans

The debate on the Int.Dep.Cast. began immediately with a lengthy argument during last night’s city council meeting.

Mayor Arturo Sigurtà, councilor Pietro Mognetti, and opposition group leader Manlio Paganella sharply clashed over the issue and the denial of certain documents related to the operations of the municipal company.

This clash was preceded by an introductory report from the mayor on the company’s activities and a detailed presentation by the president of the Castiglione municipal company, Nunzio Belluzzi.

Belluzzi explained the content of the company’s financial data from recent years.

After these reports, the council delved into the discussion, with majority group leader Giancarlo Mattioli reaffirming and clarifying some legal aspects: “There are precise procedures and timelines for granting access to company documents, which cannot be bypassed.

Therefore, even city councilors cannot bypass these rules.”

Positions and Reactions

Mattioli also expressed hope that group leaders would show willingness to analyze the future of the company and possible statutory modifications, categorically denying that, at present, there has been any proposal by the majority to the minority.

Reacting to his intervention, Paganella responded, focusing instead on the company’s future strategic plans and investment projects.

The discussion then continued late into the evening, featuring a long series of interventions from the small group of attending councilors.

It should be noted that several absent members from both the majority and the minority were not present at the session.

The topic will return to the spotlight in the coming weeks when the council will examine proposed changes to the statute.
