On September 14, the official launch of the citizen science project “Adopt Rivers and Lakes” will take place in Desenzano del Garda, a collaboration between WWF Italy and Lidl. The event will start at 9:00 AM at the Porto Diga Foranea, where activities will commence to clean the shores and underwater areas, aimed at protecting aquatic ecosystems. This initiative includes waste collection, scientific monitoring activities, and awareness campaigns to promote greater consciousness regarding plastic pollution.
During the months of September and October 2025, the project aims to clean up 50 stretches of rivers and lakes, 8 underwater areas, and 2 coastal sections across Italy. With the support of Lidl Italy, the initiative not only seeks to improve the environmental quality of freshwater bodies but also to gather valuable data on pollution to develop effective strategies for the protection of water ecosystems.
