Coast Guard and Cinema: Debut at the Venice Film Festival

The Coast Guard made its debut at the Venice Film Festival, presenting two short films titled “Heroes Dressed in White” and “Nereide” today, Friday, September 5, in celebration of the 160th anniversary of the establishment of the Port Authorities. The event took place at the Meeting Space of the Excelsior Hotel on the Lido, where Admiral Chief Inspector Nicola Carlone opened the ceremony. Following the screening of the first short film, director Alessandro Parrello and actor Antonio Catania spoke, followed by Commander Cosimo Nicastro before the viewing of “Nereide.”

The meeting concluded with a discussion that featured participation from industry experts and Coast Guard professionals, emphasizing the importance of the values that drive the men and women of the institution. With over 11,000 members spread across more than 280 local commands, the Coast Guard performs crucial tasks such as search and rescue at sea, navigation safety, and marine environmental protection. This event represents a significant moment to celebrate a rich history of commitment and dedication to public service.
