A 58-year-old foreign tourist was saved from cardiac arrest while on the lakeside of Salò, thanks to the prompt intervention of the Coast Guard. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 27, 2024, when the military personnel, returning from a mission aboard the patrol boat CP 862, noticed the man collapsed on the ground. After alerting emergency services and using a semi-automatic defibrillator, they were able to restore the man’s heartbeat.
The medical staff then transferred the tourist in critical condition to the Civile Hospital. The significance of the intervention was highlighted by the mayor of Salò, who visited the Coast Guard headquarters to express gratitude to the involved personnel. The defibrillator used was one of the devices donated by the Municipal Administration to the patrol boats following a boating accident that occurred in the Gulf of Salò in 2021.
