Coldiretti and M5S Clash Over Garda TAV Station in Desenzano
Ettore Prandini, president of Coldiretti, recently expressed support for the high-speed train station planned in Garda, highlighting its potential to boost tourism, gastronomy, industry, craftsmanship, and commerce in Brescia. The proposal has faced opposition from Andrea Spiller, a Desenzano M5S councilor, who criticized the project for threatening agricultural land between Rivoltella and San Martino, an area currently used for vineyards and farms.
Spiller also argued that the station’s location is isolated and lacks proper connections, advocating instead for upgrades to existing stations in Desenzano and Peschiera. Regional M5S councilor Paola Pollini described the project as “impactful, costly, and unnecessary,” noting that the regional council approved a favorable motion with only M5S votes against and urging Coldiretti to focus on agricultural issues like sustainability and biodiversity preservation.
