Castiglione delle Stiviere will be the picturesque setting for the first event of the “Sounds from the World” series, which will take place on July 6th at 9:00 PM in the Courtyard of Palazzo Pastore. The concert, titled “America, in black and white between classical, songs, swing & jazz,” will feature Maurizio D’Alessandro on clarinet and Massimiliano Caporale on piano. The two musicians will perform a diverse repertoire that includes composers such as Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, Caroline Adelaide Shaw, Hoagy Carmichael, Michael Garson, and Leonard Bernstein.

The concert represents a tribute to the music of white American composers who drew inspiration from African-American musical styles. Through the reinterpretation of historical pieces, the event will highlight how American musical culture has integrated elements of blues, ragtime, and folk music. The refined and nuanced arrangements promise to captivate the audience with deep emotions.

Maurizio D’Alessandro is one of Italy’s most accomplished clarinetists. After completing his studies at the Conservatory of S. Cecilia in Rome under the guidance of V. Mariozzi, he further honed his skills with renowned international masters such as Dieter Klocher and Karl Leister of the Berlin Philharmonic. His career has seen him perform at numerous prestigious festivals and collaborate with important international orchestras.

D’Alessandro is also known for his specialization in the basset horn and for being one of the few Italian virtuosos of the instrument. He has participated in radio and television broadcasts for broadcasters such as RAI Radio tre and Euroradio, and is the author of various musical writings published by renowned publishers.

Massimiliano Caporale will accompany D’Alessandro on the piano in this unique event. Their collaboration is not new; they have already worked together on significant projects such as the Vivaldi Project, combining classical and jazz, during the Italian Culture Week in Cuba.

The concert will be free of charge, offering an unmissable opportunity for music lovers on Lake Garda. For further information, please contact the Castiglione delle Stiviere Tourism Office at +39 0376679305/06 or visit the websites www.valorecastiglione.it and www.comune.castiglione.mn.it.
