Construction work has begun on the new nursery school in Salò. The announcement was made by Mayor Giampiero Cipani during a session of the City Council, in response to a question from Councilor Giovanni Ciato.

The work was awarded in June 2023 by Invitalia Spa, a company wholly owned by the Ministry of Economy, and the official handover took place on November 28, 2023. The contract was signed on February 1, 2024.

The process for the construction of the nursery school has been long and complex, partly due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, the workers will be able to start the construction, beginning with the internal demolition.

The new nursery school will be located in the former Sert building, at the corner of Umberto I and Del Roveto streets, in Campoverde. It will be a modern facility with 40 places divided into 5 sections. This will replace the current nursery school in via Montessori, which has only 24 places and cannot meet the growing demand for childcare services for children aged between 9 and 36 months.

During the question session, Councilor Ciato asked for information about the levels of air and noise pollution at the site of the future nursery school. Mayor Cipani assured that the structure will be built in compliance with all environmental regulations. Furthermore, he emphasized that in 2023, the data on air and noise pollution in the area had already been presented to the City Council. The assessments had shown that the noise levels were well below the legal limits.

Regarding PM10 pollution, the mayor referred to the publicly available data on the official website of Arpa. In 2016, Arpa had conducted an air monitoring campaign in Salò without detecting any critical issues. However, subsequently, the agency decided to concentrate its resources on areas considered more critical, despite the requests from the Municipality.

The property that housed the Sert is owned by the municipality and is located in Campoverde, overlooking Umberto I street. With the start of construction on the new nursery school, Salò will be able to offer a service that meets the needs of families with young children.
