Lombardy has announced an investment of 2 million euros for the restoration of mountain huts and pastures, aiming to enhance the public mountain livestock heritage, which constitutes approximately 65% of the structures in the region. The councilor emphasized the importance of supporting businesses operating in challenging environments, ensuring productive continuity and the safeguarding of the territory. The call for proposals offers grants of up to 90% for municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, managing bodies of protected areas, and mountain communities, targeting projects that include the construction, renovation, and modernization of livestock facilities.

Eligible investments range from a minimum of 50,000 euros to a maximum of 400,000 euros, with at least 30,000 euros allocated to primary production. Applications can be submitted from the first week of June 2025 until September 18, with the deadline for completing the interventions set for December 31, 2026. Lombardy is home to approximately 851 mountain huts and 717 pastures, primarily located in the provinces of Sondrio, Brescia, and Bergamo, highlighting the key role of livestock farming in the economy of internal areas and in the preservation of the mountain landscape.
