A serious accident occurred on the afternoon of May 1st in Castel Goffredo, involving a 62-year-old cyclist who was struck by a 51-year-old motorist who had escaped from house arrest. The man, after leaving his home without authorization, hit the cyclist while he was riding on the road with his wife. The impact caused severe injuries to the cyclist, who was urgently airlifted to the Civile Hospital in Brescia.
Following the accident, the driver did not stop to provide assistance and continued his escape until he lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road. Nevertheless, he managed to return home, where he was later located and arrested by the carabinieri. The testimony of the cyclist’s wife proved crucial for the investigation, as she provided detailed information about the man’s vehicle, who now faces charges of evasion, road injuries, and failure to assist.
