On May 31, 2025, the World No Tobacco Day is celebrated, an initiative promoted by the World Health Organization to raise public awareness about the risks associated with smoking. Desenzano del Garda is actively participating in this day, with ASST Garda organizing informative events to highlight the strategies used by tobacco and nicotine industries to make their products more appealing. This year’s theme is “Unmasking the appeal: Exposing industry tactics on tobacco and nicotine products.”
Specifically, from June 4 to 6, professionals from the Addiction Services will be present in various operational units of local hospitals to provide support and information to patients and their caregivers about the harm caused by tobacco consumption. The events will take place at Gavardo Hospital on June 4, Desenzano Hospital on June 5, and Manerbio Hospital on June 6, all from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. These initiatives represent an important step towards increasing awareness of the risks associated with smoking within the local community.
