Recent developments have raised concerns regarding the Desenzano del Garda hospital, with the committee “Let’s Keep the Desenzano Hospital on Montecroce” denouncing a deafening silence from the mayors and the Region. Following a meeting on May 19 between Mayor Lavelli and a delegation from the committee, where a discussion with the Assembly of Mayors of Area 11 was promised, no further communication has been forthcoming. This situation has sparked discontent, especially with the signing of the hospital memorandum of understanding between the Lombardy Region, the Province of Brescia, and other involved entities scheduled for July 9.
The committee has pointed out that decisions regarding the location of the new hospital are being made without consulting the citizens, despite over 8,000 people having signed a petition to keep the current facility. Concerns are growing as the territory appears to be excluded from the decision-making process, and mayors remain silent, while the shortage of healthcare personnel across the region continues to escalate. The pressing question is who will truly benefit from the new facilities if there are no human resources available to manage them.
