In Desenzano del Garda, on Saturday 26 September, a historical re-enactment will take place to mark ties between Italy and Greece during the Risorgimento period. The parade will leave at 16:00 from Piazza Garibaldi, while the event will begin at 16:30 in Piazza Cappelletti.
The historical parade will travel through the town centre streets, with the participation of the Sbandieratori and Musici of the Signoria di Firenze. In Piazza Cappelletti, the show “Fantasie Mediterranee Italia-Grecia. Insieme per ricordare” is scheduled, featuring re-enactors from Faro Tricolore and Vivere il Risorgimento, 19th-century dances, Greek music and Risorgimento songs.
The programme also includes performances by Danze '800 Verona, the Greek dance group “Tersicoreo”, and the Ritmo Dance Academy. The event will feature soprano Chiara Milini, tenor Mickael Santoro, pianist Alessandro Marini and the Coro Lirico del Garda conducted by Maestro Yenisley Jimenez, and will be hosted by Marta Visconti and Marco Pettenati, with a focus on the historical events that brought the two peoples together during the struggles for freedom. If weather conditions are unfavourable, the show will still go ahead at 16:30 at the Istituto Antoniano dei Padri Rogazionisti in Desenzano del Garda, but the parade through the town centre will be cancelled.
