Desenzano Hospital Access Overhaul Completes by February 2022
Work on the new entrance at Montecroce continues at full speed, but simultaneously the natural and understandable inconveniences for those accessing the hospital are already diminishing. Indeed, after alternative routes were made mandatory during the first days of the construction site’s opening, it is now possible to resume using the main entrance, on the Desenzano hospital front, thanks to the creation of an emergency entrance/exit. As a result, visitor access from the south entrance is once again closed, and the closures of doors and gates are being restored to their original hours.
Restoration and new structures
Of course, the privileged entrance for handicapped individuals remains active through the Emergency Room. Additionally, the pedestrian gate recently built, beside the northern driveway, will remain open in the morning for the Diabetes Center and during the opening hours of the Morgue.
As previously mentioned, the works are expected to be completed by next February 2002. This is a project “aimed at requalifying the entire visitor access area,” explains the general director of the Azienda Ospedaliera di Desenzano del Garda, Dr. Angelo Foschini, who continues: “Along with the construction of the cover connecting the external access point to the hospital entrance, the entire access zone is being redesigned with the goal of making it more lively and rational. This will be achieved through a new placement of the bar area and the creation of a commercial space.”
New structures and signage
Both will benefit from an outdoor area protected by a transparent cover. This will connect the front canopy, made of masonry, with the actual entrance doors, which will open automatically. The cost of the project is estimated to be around four hundred million lire.
The signage is also being upgraded, with new totems and signs that will facilitate immediate identification of departments and services, significantly easing visitors’ access.
These are important improvements, which further underscore – if there was still any doubt – how the General Management of the Azienda Ospedaliera di Desenzano del Garda remains attentive to a fundamental precondition: “the commitment to guaranteeing the best service, from small to large, the most qualified and prompt, while using public funds in the most efficient way possible, without waste, and with full transparency.”
