Desenzano Hospital: The Committee Meets Mayor Lavelli After Months of Silence. A demonstration was held outside the Municipality of Sirmione to demand greater transparency regarding the future of the hospital. The Committee “Let’s Keep Desenzano Hospital on Montecroce” finally had the opportunity to engage with Mayor Lavelli, following a prolonged period during which their requests went unheard. During the meeting, crucial issues were raised, such as the lack of a call to discuss Decree No. 639/2023, which approves a feasibility study for a new hospital, and the request to organize a public meeting to ensure citizens’ rights are upheld.
The Committee expressed concern over the absence of debate within the Assembly of Mayors and called for an institutional statement regarding decisions that significantly impact the area, emphasizing that the study proposes a smaller hospital despite an annual influx of over 9 million tourists. Dr. Lavelli invited Committee members to participate in a future Assembly of Mayors to present their concerns, while the Coordination awaits formal communication regarding the details of the meeting. In the meantime, a letter has been sent to the General Management of ASST Garda to request adherence to regulations concerning annual public meetings, highlighting that participation is a fundamental right and that health should be viewed as a shared responsibility.
