Desenzano Hospital Hosts Tribute Concert Honoring Antonio Tomacelli

A concert at the hospital to thank the chief, doctors, and staff. The idea was conceived by m° Antonio Tomacelli. It is a confirmation of the highly original results of the survey conducted by the Desenzano hospital company on the satisfaction index of healthcare clients in the Garda area, presented just yesterday afternoon.

Antonio Tomacelli’s Musical Dream

Antonio Tomacelli, an 86-year-old living in Toscolano Maderno with his wife, is truly pleased with the treatment he received in the urology ward under the care of Prof. Da Pozzo. Having dedicated much of his life to music, he could only choose the musical staff as a way to thank the staff in his own way.

Antonio Tomacelli began playing music at a very young age. A student of the renowned German maestro Suchentruck (a true ‘beacon’ for musical bands), he joined the Brescia military band in 1935. After being imprisoned in Germany, he was appointed director of the Toscolano band in 1947 and of the Salò band in 1967.

The Musical Contribution and Recognitions

He founded the Tignale band; he was among the founders of the Associazione Nazionale Bande Italiane. He has taught around two thousand students, and his dedication to promoting musical culture earned him the appointment as Knight of the Republic.

Since 1988, he has been director of the Mandolinistica del Benaco. It is this orchestra that will perform – as announced by the invites posted throughout all corridors and wards of the Desenzano hospital – in the upcoming concert.

The Event at the Desenzano Ward

The appointment is on Friday at 9 p.m. in the main hall of the Desenzano hospital, where medical words will give way to musical notes.
