Desenzano Hospital Plans, Certifications, and New Medical Equipment
By the end of the year, the fate of the planned Roé Volciano hospital will be known. By that date, Finlombarda is expected to announce its opinion on the financial plan previously submitted by the Italian-English company.
If the decision is negative, two alternative options will be considered: either the redevelopment of the old Salò hospital, with a request for additional funding from the Region, or an agreement with a private partner to manage a new hospital with 51% public ownership.
Quality Certification and Inspections
The statement comes from the general director of the Azienda ospedaliera di Desenzano, Angelo Foschini, following the presentation of certification for certain hospital sectors by DNV, Det Norske Veritas, a prestigious international organization that also counts Ferrari among its clients.
These are a series of audits certifying the quality of specific services (laboratories, transfusion centers, pathology, and radiology). In simple terms, a kind of “Quality Mark” that inherently benefits the user by providing greater guarantees.
Next Steps and Ongoing Activities
As Foschini emphasized, upcoming stages will focus on emergency rooms, Pediatric wards, operation theaters, sterilization centers, psychiatric units, and management oversight, followed gradually by all other departments.
The quality initiative is expected to be completed in 2003. The project was managed by Dr. Adriano Vaini and Ing. Cristina Lui, both officials of the hospital organization.
The Regione Lombardia has recognized this project as “one of the most comprehensive and qualified among those submitted across the entire regional territory.” The decision to adopt certification from an internationally leading organization was also driven by the need to enhance the visibility of healthcare processes for foreign users, who frequently visit the Garda hospitals, mainly during the summer period.
Finally, Foschini announced the arrival of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system at Desenzano and the launch of the new echocardiography system for the Cardiology department.
