The recent signing of the interinstitutional protocol for the new hospital in Desenzano marks a crucial step in healthcare planning in the Basso Garda area. The document, signed yesterday morning at the regional territorial office in Brescia, involves the Province, the ATS, the Municipality of Desenzano, and the ASST Garda, with the presence of the President of the Region, Attilio Fontana. This agreement initiates a working group that will assess various design options to upgrade the current hospital and ensure a modern facility capable of addressing future challenges.
The group will consist of technical representatives appointed by each signing entity and will work over the coming months to analyze proposals that meet local healthcare needs. Among the options being discussed is the possibility of constructing in the employee parking lot, utilizing the 20,000 square meters available to expand or renovate parts of the existing hospital. While Mayor Guido Malinverno appears to favor this sustainable solution, a citizens’ committee has gathered 8,000 signatures to advocate for the renovation of the current hospital structure. With a budget of €142,000 already allocated by the Region and the technical support of the Politecnico di Milano, the aim is to ensure efficient and sustainable healthcare services for the local community.
