Desenzano Hosts Launch of Book Celebrating Ambrogio Da Re as a Beacon of Hope

Ambrogio Da Re, the first Italian child to undergo a liver transplant, is the focus of a new book by journalist Vittorio Pierobon. The story highlights how community generosity from Northern Italy made this medical miracle possible, symbolizing hope and solidarity.

Two public events will be held at libraries in Desenzano del Garda and Calcinato to present the book, titled “Per Ambrogio, il bimbo salvato dalla generosità di Veneti e Friulani,” scheduled for February 5 and 6. Pierobon will discuss the story of Ambrogio, born with a rare liver disease in 1985, who received a transplant in the US in 1984 thanks to fundraising efforts supported by media and local communities, including notable figures and institutions.
