Desenzano Inaugurates New Minibus for Elderly with Banca Popolare and Lions Club

A grand celebration took place this morning at the Pia Opera Sant’Angela Merici in Desenzano. With a significant financial effort, contributed by the Banca Popolare di Verona and the Lions Club of Lower Garda, a new minibus for transporting the elderly and disabled individuals will begin operation today.

Inauguration and speeches

Participants in the ribbon-cutting ceremony include the president of the Casa di riposo, Massimo Bernardini, the secretary Maurizio Caristia, representatives from the bank and the Lions club, followed by several municipal administrators.

The vehicle can transport up to nine people, in addition to the driver, and is equipped with an electric lift and three wheelchair-accessible seats.

Features and purposes of the new minibus

As explained by Secretary Caristia, the vehicle will serve multiple functions: transporting elderly residents, individuals with psycho-motor difficulties, and users of the Centro diurno integrato.

Until now, elderly individuals had to rely on their family members or makeshift means, which involved considerable inconvenience.

Now, with the arrival of the new minibus, among other features built with the most modern technologies and comfort, the Casa di riposo in Desenzano has filled a significant gap.

Blessing and location

The vehicle will be blessed this morning at 11 a.m. in the courtyard in front of the main entrance of the facility on via Vittorio Veneto, which in our province is one of the largest and most comfortable assisted residence centers.
