Desenzano Offers Social Benefits for Low-Income Residents
Social Benefits and Concessed Advantages
Social benefits granted to the lower-income population have been defined thanks to an agreement between the Comune and pensioners’ unions Spi-Cgil, Fnp-Cisl, and Uilp-Uil.
The advantages outlined include numerous discounts and exemptions that can be requested. According to the Valentino Morostica, the Social Services Councillor, and the mayor Anelli, these range from issuing a card for exemption from co-payments for drugs in categories A and B, to reimbursement of co-payments related to diagnostic tests and specialist visits upon presentation of a prescription from the general practitioner and an official receipt.
Reductions and Financial Contributions
A 33% reduction in waste disposal tax is also provided for individuals living alone in their households; this discount is granted automatically without application. In cases of income below the minimum vital threshold, bills can be reduced to zero.
The Comune also offers a lump sum contribution of 250,000 lire to cover energy and gas expenses; these are reserved for heads of households over 65 years of age and with a specific income level.
Indicator of the Economic Situation and Application Process
It is important to note that, for the first time, the Comune di Desenzano has explicitly referred to the Ise, the Indicator of the Economic Situation of the individual or family. This index, introduced nationwide for the first time, takes into account not only income but also assets and family composition.
Applications can be submitted at the Ufficio relazioni con il pubblico in Desenzano (piazzale Bagatta, former police station) from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 11:30 am, and in Rivoltella (inside the former municipal building) on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
As mentioned, the application must include the Ise certification with the family’s tax codes, income declarations, balances of bank and postal accounts as of the end of ’99, balances of any investments in securities, savings books, the value and cadastral category of owned properties.
The Comune has also activated a toll-free number: 800232122. The deadline for submitting applications is August 31.
