Desenzano Opens New Lakeside Promenade Linking Via Gramsci and Vicolo delle Lavandaie

Desenzano’s new stretch of lakefront promenade was inaugurated on Thursday, May 21 at 7:00 PM, marking the third and final phase of the lakefront redevelopment between Via Gramsci and Vicolo delle Lavandaie. The project was carried out through a collaboration between the Municipality of Desenzano, Regione Lombardia, and the Garda and Idro Lakes Basin Authority, with a total investment of 3.14 million euros (1.25 million from the Municipality, 1.25 million funded by Regione Lombardia, and 640,000 from the Basin Authority).

The 200-meter-long, 9-meter-wide promenade features a 2–4 meter green belt and a sinuous profile facing the water. It preserves existing trees and adds Tilia europaea and evergreen shrubs, with seating in white concrete and wood, LED lighting, a light granite pavement (Tonalite), and Verona red marble borders. The quay was widened to move the wave break away from the roadway, improving road protection. The project also showcases the enhanced historic lakeside descent “delle Lavandaie” with two sculptures by Angiolino Aime, and was welcomed by residents and local officials at the ceremony.
