Desenzano Presidio Names Filippini and Daverio as New Heads of Operational Units
Desenzano Hospital has announced two major leadership appointments to its complex care units: Matteo Filippini will become director of the Complex Operating Unit of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, and Daniele Daverio will lead Orthopedics and Traumatology, while also serving as acting director of the Gavardo Presidio. The appointments were officially confirmed on June 8, 2026 by ASST Garda.
Matteo Filippini, born in 1980 in Brescia, earned his medical degree in 2005 and specialized in Anesthesia and Intensive Care in 2010 at the University of Brescia, adding a Master in Bioethics from the University of Turin in 2020. He previously served as Medical Director of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at ASST Spedali Civili di Brescia (2010–2026), with extensive experience in Critical Care, respiratory medicine, and clinical ethics; he has led Medical Emergency Team activities and Critical Care Outreach, directed COVID ICU therapies (2020–2023), teaches at the Brescia Medical School, and has published over 30 papers. Daniele Daverio, who trained in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Brescia, completed additional training in Montpellier and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London. From 2000 to 2020 he was a Senior Doctor in Traumatology at Spedali Civili di Brescia, and since 2021 has worked with ASST Garda, serving as interim director of Gavardo Orthopedics in 2023. His expertise covers painful limb disorders and elective and traumatic surgery of the wrist, hand, and peripheral nerves, with substantial experience in Day-Surgery, ambulatory care, and emergency trauma management.
These appointments represent a strategic investment to strengthen the hospital’s clinical quality and organizational capacity, aiming to deliver increasingly specialized, innovative care close to the territory.
