Approximately 500 citizens of Desenzano participated yesterday afternoon, October 12, in a demonstration in Piazza Malvezzi to defend the local hospital, organized by the committee “Let’s Keep the Hospital of Desenzano on Montecroce.” The protesters expressed their opposition to the construction of a new hospital, as outlined in regional and ASST plans, instead calling for a renovation of the existing facility. The petition has garnered over 5,000 signatures, highlighting the strong community support for enhancing healthcare services.
During the protest, concerns regarding costs were also raised: according to the committee, the renovation would require about 23 million euros compared to the 142 million allocated for a new building. Participants emphasized that it is not only physical structures that determine healthcare excellence but rather the enhancement of services through staff hiring and investments in modern equipment. The committee intends to present its proposals to the Region, accompanied by the thousands of signatures collected.
