Work has begun on the construction of the Garda Cycle Path in the territory of Desenzano. This is an ambitious project that aims to create a cycle path along the entire lake, with the goal of promoting sustainable mobility and cycling tourism in the area.

The work started a few hours ago and is expected to be completed by Friday, May 3, 2024. During this period, some municipal roads will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic to allow for the work to be carried out. However, access to private properties affected by the project has been guaranteed.

The roads affected by the closure are:

– Via loc. Casotto from the entrance to the dirt road that leads to Laghetto Park to via loc. Cà Bianca;
– Via loc. Cà Bianca to the intersection with via Montebaldo;
– From the pedestrian crossing of via Marconi at the intersection with via Bezzecca to the area between the Bagoda garden and the Ferrovie area;
– Via loc. Feniletto from the intersection with via Andreis to the intersection with via loc. Vallio di Sotto;
– Via loc. Vallio di Sotto from the intersection with via loc. Feniletto to the entrance of Corte Vallio.

During the work, a one-way alternating traffic system will also be implemented, regulated by traffic controllers, with a narrowing of the roadway and a speed limit of 30 km/h, on some roads in the area. The roads affected by this measure are:

– Via Dugazze from the intersection with viale Motta to the intersection with via Michelangelo;
– Via Marconi from the pedestrian crossing under the railway bridge on the Castiglione-bound lane.

Once completed, the Garda Cycle Path will follow a route starting from the Montecroce area near the Hospital, crossing a dedicated dirt track and connecting to the roads in the area until reaching a dedicated lane along the railway to the Le Vele shopping center. From there, the route will continue along via Marconi, Mezzocolle, and Montebaldo, before entering the Laghetto Park through a dedicated path. Finally, the Cycle Path will connect to the territory of Sirmione, passing through the Spiaggia d’Oro.
