Dramatic Rescue in Castiglione: Chase Prevents Suicide
A 26-year-old man from Castiglione delle Stiviere was rescued by carabinieri after a dramatic chase on December 20, following a suicide attempt. The young man, armed with a kitchen knife and a gasoline canister, had expressed suicidal intentions to a friend, who promptly alerted the authorities. This led to a quick identification of the vehicle, allowing the Radiomobile unit to intercept him in Casalmoro.
The chase escalated as the man fled towards Desenzano sul Garda, prompting assistance from units outside the province. It ended when he crashed into a sand pile, fortunately sustaining no life-threatening injuries. He was subsequently transported to Gavardo hospital for medical attention.
