Earthquake damages Via Disciplini sundial in Sarca area

The strong earthquake shock that was felt throughout the lower Sarca area a few weeks ago did not cause any damage to the houses. In fact, to be honest, there is one victim, and it is the sundial on Via Disciplini.

The tremors from the quake, in fact, caused the plaster to detach from the wall of the building that, at the corner of Piazza Cavour, houses the sundial.

In recent days, the mortar and paint have significantly lifted, forming a sort of bubble that appeared as a Damocles sword hanging over the heads of passersby who flock to the area every day.

The building owners have therefore contacted a company that, early Monday morning, “scraped” away the entire unstable fragment, leaving only the phrase located just below the hours that warns passersby: “Return to the turning of the sun, the lost shadow, the age of man never returns.”

In the coming weeks, a new coat of plaster will be applied, and afterwards, the sundial will be repainted.
