The storm that hit the Lake Garda area has caused several damages, including a rock detachment along the 249 Gardesana Orientale state road. The road has been closed to allow for consolidation and safety works in the affected area.
The rock detachment occurred late in the evening on Monday, April 22, in the Tempesta area, between Torbole and Malcesine. Fortunately, no people or vehicles were involved in the incident. A rock of over two cubic meters fell onto the road, requiring the closure of the road in both directions.
To remove the rock, a hammer attached to an excavator was used. Once the rock was demolished, it was loaded onto a vehicle and taken away. However, the safety works in the area are not yet completed and will continue for a few more days.
The intervention includes the use of “wire mesh” panels that will be installed on the rock wall above the road. This will prevent future detachments and ensure greater safety for motorists traveling on that stretch.
In the meantime, the 249 Gardesana Orientale state road has been reopened to traffic with alternating one-way flow to allow vehicles to pass. However, drivers are still advised to pay attention and follow the instructions of the personnel on site.
