Elio Forti Memorial Trophy Awarded at Garda Ten-Mile Race 2026 in Brescia
The Archivio Storico dell’Atletica Italiana “Bruno Bonomelli” (ASAI) has created a 2026 memorial trophy for Elio Forti, to be presented on Sunday during the 53rd edition of the Diecimiglia del Garda; ASAI members have entrusted Forti’s family with the decision on the award and the ceremony’s organization at the event.
Aurelio Forti, known as Elio, was the founder and for fifty years the organizer of the race. He died January 1, 2024 in Navazzo di Gargnano at age 71. A longtime ASAI member, he played a key operational role in organizing events such as Caminà (later Diecimiglia), BVG, and the Grande Giro del Garda Ultratrail, whose 2023 Edition 0 saw ten ultramarathoners cover 185 kilometers with 6,000 meters of elevation. Forti was also noted for his long-distance walks documented between Navazzo, Desenzano, Brescia and Nazaré in Portugal.
