An innovative project on environmental monitoring of alien species has recently concluded at the Mach Foundation in San Michele all’Adige. Fifth-grade students from the Agricultural Technical Institute presented the results of their investigations into invasive species such as mosquitoes, sharpshooters, crayfish, and turtles, addressing the ecological issues related to their presence in the local area. Throughout the three-year project, the students collaborated with industry experts and local institutions to develop technical and scientific skills, as well as management plans aimed at preventing the damage caused by these species.
The final event was attended by teachers, experts, and local administrators, highlighting the importance of synergy between scientific knowledge and concrete actions for biodiversity conservation. This initiative also provided a valuable orientation opportunity for students, allowing them to engage with professionals in the ecological and environmental sectors and explore potential future career paths.
