Ergonomic Tips for Computer Use: Posture and Workspace Design
After spending some time at the computer, do you notice soreness in your neck or shoulders? Do you wonder if there’s something wrong with your chair or posture? The answer to your concerns is called ergonomics, the science that studies humans in their work activities. Ergonomics also provides guidelines for using a computer, from proper room lighting to body position relative to the workstation.
Posture Rules
In this regard, it is now widely accepted that the eyes should be at the same height as the top edge of the screen, that the elbows form an angle between 90 and 110 degrees, and that the wrists rest on the surface of the desk. Ergonomics has found application both in the design of office furniture and in computer components: on the market, there is a keyboard called Natural Keyboard which features a dedicated space for resting hands and wrists, and it comes with a manual for correct positioning in front of the computer.
