Ex Athletes in Salo Launch New Business Ventures

Former elite athletes are increasingly choosing Salò as a post-career base, turning their experience into local business ventures. Alberto Cisolla, the former Italy volleyball national player and silver medalist at the Athens 2004 Olympics, runs the Caprice Uno restaurant-pizzeria on the lakeside with his wife. Ovidio Gorlani, a former footballer who developed in Brescia’s youth system, manages the Baretto.

The trend also includes cycling champion Sonny Colbrelli, winner of the 2021 Paris–Roubaix and Italian road champion, who co-founded CyclingGarda in Via Brunati with former teammates. The shop offers bike sales, rentals and cycling tours. Local officials link the growing number of initiatives to Salò’s quality of life, tourism appeal and commercial drive, which continues to attract new investment.
