Expo-ScuolAmbiente Highlights Climate Projects by Schools and Companies

The educational projects conceived and developed by schools and exhibited at Villa Tassinara during the eighth edition of Expo-scuolambiente were selected by the 14 regional centers for environmental education.

These projects concern actions that humans can undertake to protect the climate, primarily focusing on reducing carbon dioxide emissions by intervening in the energy system and forest conservation efforts. In addition to those by students, there are also projects, initiatives, and campaigns by many companies dedicated to schools.

Projects and initiatives present at the event

We remember Asm of Brescia, Cogeme, Coop Lombardia, Sangemini, Fia, and Ecosportello of Legambiente. Significant space is allocated to workshops directly involving students, while a climbing gym has been set up by the regional college of Alpine Guides of Lombardy.

In the area adjacent to the villa, theatrical animation activities will alternate until May 17, featuring hundreds of young participants. The eighth edition of Expo-scuolambiente was inaugurated by the regional climate and environment councilor Franco Cristiani Nicoli.

Inauguration and participation

«Dedicating this year’s edition to the theme of climate mutations – he said – sends a strong message to all Lombard schools. Climate change and water usage are, in fact, the two challenges of the 2000s. Expo has become a special event for nursery, elementary, middle, and high schools that want to engage with environmental issues», Nicoli added.

After visiting the stands covering nearly two thousand square meters, the councilor met the first school groups visiting the Expo: two classes from the Desenzano high school and the Hensemberg Technical Commercial Institute of Monza.

The questions he received concerned regional policies on topics such as renewable energy sources, air remediation plans, and mobility rationalization. Expo-scuolambiente closes on May 17. An attendance of around 8,000 students is expected.
