Toscolano Maderno is preparing to carry out extraordinary maintenance interventions on the sublacual conduits that connect the municipality to Torri del Benaco. Recent monitoring, managed by Acque Bresciane, has confirmed the structural integrity of the steel pipes but has also revealed the presence of at least 128 bio-concretions along the conduits, made up of carbonate compounds and sponges. These biological deposits pose a threat to the protective surface of the pipes, necessitating prompt action.
In response to these issues, Acque Bresciane has scheduled an extraordinary intervention that will involve two teams of divers to remove the bio-concretions and assess the wear of the conduits. Among the new findings from the 2024 monitoring, the discovery of biological formations along the entire route and a layer of mollusks on a significant stretch on the Toscolano side has been noted. The estimated cost for these works amounts to approximately 4.5 million euros, with the aim of ensuring the full functionality of the infrastructure.
