In the coming weekends, the “Giovanni Segantini” Civic Gallery in Arco will offer two special openings for the exhibition “Autumn Sun: The Rediscovered Masterpiece.” The event will take place from March 21 to 23 and from March 28 to 30, with hours from 10 AM to 6 PM, representing an important opportunity for art enthusiasts to admire a prestigious acquisition by Segantini.
The painting “Autumn Sun,” which was last exhibited in 1954, was first presented at the National Exhibition in Venice in 1887. This work is considered one of the most innovative points in Segantini’s artistic production during his stay in Savognin, Switzerland. The exhibition not only celebrates this new acquisition but also highlights the artist’s journey, emphasizing a crucial turning point in his creative evolution.
Exhibition Details
The exhibition’s setup is curated by Niccolò D’Agati and aims to enhance the significance of the painting within Segantini’s artistic research. The work represents a significant moment in the transition between his experiences in Brianza and the subsequent phase of his career in Switzerland, characterized by a renewed use of color and light.
Following the temporary closure on January 28, which allowed for pre-booked visits by schools and groups, these special openings represent the last opportunities to view the work before the gallery prepares for a new exhibition scheduled for April 12.
Ticket Information
Admission to the exhibition is priced at 7 euros for full price and 5 euros for reduced price. A package that includes entry to both the civic gallery and the castle is also available for 10 euros full price and 7 euros reduced price. Admission is free for children up to 12 years old, accompanied individuals with disabilities (if necessary), schoolchildren with teachers, tour guides working with pre-booked groups (one free admission for every fifteen people), and residents of Arco.
These special openings thus offer an unmissable opportunity to immerse oneself in Segantini’s art in the heart of the Adige Valley.
