A scam involving a fake Alpine soldier in the Brescia area of Lake Garda has been uncovered, thanks to reports from several businesses in Salò, Manerba, and Soiano. A man, who appeared on the television show Pomeriggio Cinque, recounted how he was deceived by a supposed “Simone,” who convinced him to raise funds by posing as an Alpine in financial difficulty. The scam was based on requests for donations to purchase equipment for disabled users, subsequently promising the delivery of products such as wine and oil that were never actually provided.
The 40-year-old from Brescia stated that he had collected approximately 6,000 euros over three months, keeping 1,300 euros for himself. He expressed regret towards the Alpine community and the merchants involved, highlighting the lack of evidence regarding the identity of his accomplice. The Carabinieri will now further investigate the matter to verify the authenticity of his testimony and attempt to identify the alleged accomplice.
